Client stories

Recent work

Marple Tech Help is new, so I’m still building up reviews. In the meantime, here are a few real examples of the sort of help I do (names used with permission).

Lucas, Marple — Gaming PC upgrade & stability fix

Problem: A failing graphics card caused crashes and stuttering.

What I did: Replaced the GPU, upgraded RAM, installed faster SSD storage, and checked drivers, temperatures and stability.

Result: Smoother gameplay, faster load times, and a reliable setup day-to-day.

Chris, High Lane — Bought the right laptop (and saved money)

Problem: Confusing in-store advice and a quote around £200 more than needed.

What I did: Matched the laptop to how it would actually be used, found a better-value option, then set it up and moved everything across safely.

Result: A faster laptop suited to real needs — without paying for pointless upgrades.

Beryl, High Lane — Simple charging setup that actually works

Problem: Struggling to charge an iPad and phone reliably.

What I did: Talked through the pros/cons of overnight charging via a power bank, chose a sensible product, and helped order it with the right cables.

Result: No more fiddly charging routine — just a practical solution and peace of mind.

If I’ve helped you and you’d like to leave a review, message me and I’ll share the link. I only publish genuine feedback with permission.

Typical Costs

Simple, clear pricing

No call-out fees for local visits. You only pay for the time we agree.

£65

Includes travel + first hour on site. Most visits wrap up in 60–90 mins (£65–£95).

Extra time

£30 / 30 mins

Charged in half-hour blocks if we go beyond the first hour. I’ll check before we continue.

Remote support

£45 / 45 mins

Then £15 per extra 15 mins. Ideal for follow-ups once I know your setup.

Blocks for bigger jobs

£165 / £300

Half-day (up to 3h) £165. Day block (up to 6h) £300. Handy for smart homes or “do a few things” visits.

Parts are agreed before purchase. I’ll recommend sensible options and you choose what to spend.

No surprise add-ons. If it’s likely to run over, I’ll explain the options before we hit the next block of time.

Payment: bank transfer, cash, or contactless card/phone.

Common Questions

Do you offer remote support?

Yes — but only for existing customers or very simple jobs where it’s clearly appropriate (e.g., email settings or software installation). I never ask for remote access without explaining exactly why it’s needed, and you’re always in full control.

Do you charge call-out fees?

No. You only pay for the time spent helping you.

How quickly can you come out?

Usually the same day or next day. Most new customers prefer an in-person visit for peace of mind.

Can you help if I’m not very technical?

Yes — everything is explained in simple, friendly language.

Do you work with Windows and Apple?

Yes. Laptops, desktops, Macs, Chromebooks, tablets, phones and smart devices.

Can you help with Wi-Fi problems?

Absolutely. I diagnose slow Wi-Fi, poor coverage, blackspots, router issues and optimise everything.

Do you fix printers?

Yes — wireless setup, connection problems, scanning issues, and general printer errors.

Is my data safe?

Yes. I only access what you explicitly allow, and everything is done transparently.

What if you can’t fix the problem?

If something can’t be solved on the spot, I explain all your options clearly.
