A Legacy File fixes this calmly, before it's ever needed. It records where things are and who to call, never passwords or PINs, so it's safe to make and genuinely useful to the people you leave it for. It's not a will, and it doesn't replace one: it's the practical companion to it.

Do it yourself
Use the Legacy File tool online, free. Plain questions, strong encryption, nothing sent to us. The first three sections take fifteen minutes and are worth doing on their own.
Legacy File Session
One relaxed visit, usually around an hour. We complete your Legacy File together, make sure the passphrase arrangement makes sense, save the right copies and test that everything works. (Sorting passwords and account recovery is the Plan, below.)
Digital Legacy Plan
The complete setup, typically up to two hours. Everything in the session, plus password and emergency-access arrangements, Apple Legacy Contact, Google Inactive Account Manager, Facebook memorialisation, and a practical handover plan.
Then, once a year
Annual Legacy Refresh · £39
Once a year, we visit and check what has changed, update the file and make sure the copies and access arrangements still work. Usually 30 to 45 minutes, face to face, at yours.
Safe by design
The Legacy File never contains passwords, PINs or card numbers, only where things are and who to call. It's protected with strong encryption, created entirely on your own device, and nothing is ever stored with us. The file is self-contained (it doesn't depend on an MTH account or subscription to open) and it's designed for long-term access, which is one reason we recommend the annual refresh.
And because it's ours, help is a phone call away, not a helpdesk ticket.
Common questions
What is a digital legacy file?
A single document your family can open if you die or become unable to manage your affairs: accounts, policies, where documents are kept, who to contact, and your wishes. Ours is one encrypted, self-contained file designed to open in a modern web browser, with no internet connection or account needed.
Is it the same as a will?
No, and it doesn't replace one. A will says who inherits; a legacy file helps your family actually find and deal with everything. You should have both.
Is it safe to write all this down?
Yes, done properly. No passwords or PINs ever go in it, only pointers, like "the emergency kit is in the fireproof box". The file itself is strongly encrypted and only your passphrase opens it.
What if the passphrase is lost?
Then the file can't be opened, by anyone. That's what makes it safe. Before the file is created you decide where the passphrase lives, usually a sealed envelope stored with your will.
I'm not good with computers. Is this for me?
